Solutions Architect junior at Integrity Engineering

The Solutions Architect’s Purpose:

• Being passionate about analyzing and understanding business problems, and designing innovative technology based solutions specific to each client’s domain of expertise. 
• Building the bridge between the client’s needs and the development team to ensure that we add value to their businesses.
• Working directly with owner of small, fast-growing company designing solutions mostly in the mining sector.

The Solutions Architect’s Profile:

•  You have good strategic capabilities and an ability to deal with a high level of complexity. At the same time, you are passionate about solving business challenges in a hands-on manner – not hesitating to delve into the detail once the big picture is clear. 
• You have strong interpersonal and communications skills and the desire to build real and long term relationships with clients, learning more about their businesses and enabling change. 

Qualification:  

B.Eng Computer Engineering OR B.Eng Industrial Engineering

Key Functional Responsibilities:

• Building and enriching long term relationships with clients
• Spending time at client sites (3-4 days at a time) to understand their business and their needs
• Explaining the solution and its benefits for a client’s specific environment (selling the solution)
• Analyzing and understanding issues in a client domain, and engineering a solution that will enable change and improve their processes and systems
• Defining and describing the potential solution for the design team in such a way that they can build it (SCRUM Product Owner)
• Balancing the agendas of accommodating individual needs and creating the appropriate long term solution for the business
• Managing client expectations in terms of deadlines and delivery dates  (SCRUM Product Owner)
• Keeping both the client and the design team informed during the project  (SCRUM Product Owner)
• Following up on outstanding information or delays that may impact on delivery  (SCRUM Product Owner)

Technical and Functional Competencies:

• A solid understanding of systems and processes, preferably in the open cast mining industry
• Business acumen and experience – gained by a hands-on approach to work
• The ability to translate client domain issues, and define problems and potential solutions so the software development team can build them
• Strategic thinking – approaching solution design to facilitate change and the achievement of business goals
• Understanding the impact of change in all areas of the business  ( ‘big picture’ )
• The orientation to be meticulous when analyzing and designing processes and systems – paying close attention to detail in every component in the value chain
• Getting operationally involved to understand what solutions and processes are needed (getting your hands dirty)
