Actuarial Pricing Specialist

• There is an opportunity in the Absa Life Pricing Team for a structured, methodical and technically oriented individual who is passionate about getting into the detail and taking ownership of end to end pricing projects. This opportunity is ideal for a colleague with a strong analytical and project management mindset who is willing to enhance their business acumen through pricing of different products across different channels and entities.

The role will be responsible for the following:

• Investigating product performance related issues and queries and recommend pricing solutions to product owners, product managers and other functional areas of the business
• Investigate new pricing trends, methodologies and recommending new rating factors
• Support product managers in designing new products or features and highlight impact of proposals on premium rates, competitiveness, fair treatment of customers and profitability
• Support product managers in developing business cases and socializing them with management and business partners
• Develop and socialise pricing assumptions with key stakeholders including product managers, management, reinsurance partners, Financial Risk team and Head of Actuarial Function
• Pricing of new products in line with pricing guidelines and Model Risk Standard
• Socializing new rates with product managers and business partners and supporting them in getting buy-in from management
• Managing all pricing exercises in accordance with all applicable governance processes and Standards, including engagements with Head of Actuarial Function to ensure rates are signed-off
• Supporting the product managers and IT to ensure successful implementation of new rates

• You are making good progress with exams - completed A100 and A200 (CT’s) as a minimum
• You have at least 3 years pricing, product development or valuation related life insurance experience
• Ability to work independently, are self-motivated and passionate about executing effectively and with high quality
• You are willing and keen to learn new programming languages and have some experience in Prophet and SQL
