    JOB PURPOSE

    To integrate opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-systems and non-specialized final systems, as well as alignment and basic functional tests of these systems. To assemble and test products according to work instruction and specifications. To take responsibility for all products and all related tasks during the integration progress, acceptance testing procedures and Build History Documentation of assemblies and sub-assemblies.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Trade Certificate.

     

    IDEAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • Minimum of three years’ experience in a manufacturing production environment.

     

    KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • Staff must have a natural aptitude to work with their hands;
    • Excellent hand eye co-ordination;
    • Some optical theory knowledge preferred;
    • Technical Drawing/ ability to read and interpret a manufacturing drawings
    • Basic Computer Literacy;
    • Trained in Product Assembly or have the ability to be trained in this aspect;
    • Trained in Optics Handling trained or have the ability to be trained in this aspect;
    • Cross training in different products to be done or have been done;
    • Be competent in the handling and functioning of electronic equipment and software or be trained in this aspect.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

    1. Preparation of kits

    • Receive and inspect kits for completeness;
    • Take action on any deviation;
    • Clean and prepare parts for assembly.

    2. Assembly

    • Building of subassemblies and assemblies according to work order and assembly documentation;
    • Follow processes of Burn-in, vacuum baking, leak test, purging as prescribed;
    • Complete BHD as required.

    3. Integration and testing of assemblies and sub-assemblies

    • Preparation of sub-assemblies for assembly on higher level;
    • Integration of sub-assemblies to system level;
    • Testing and repair to ensure full functionality of the system;
    • Ensuring the correct level of quality of workmanship;
    • Ensure system adheres to product specifications;
    • Involvement in assembly of engineering samples or prototypes and giving feedback regarding ease of assembly and assembly line.

    4. Inspection, alignment and testing

    • First level alignment of subassembly;
    • Elementary functional test of assemblies according to requirements documentation;
    • Completion of all relevant documentation;
    • Presentation to Quality Control for acceptance;
    • Packing of subassemblies;
    • Signing off build history documents and hand in for processing.

    5. Maintenance and repair

    • Conduct diagnostics at system level;
    • Repair to ensure full functionality of the system;
    • Completion of all relevant documentation;
    • Submit to Quality Control for acceptance.

    6. System responsibility

    • Drive integration process, acceptance test procedures and Build History;
    • Documentation of assemblies and sub-assemblies up to the point where Quality Control accepts it;
    • Provide timely and accurate feedback to the Foreman. 

    7. General

    • Adhere to company policies and disciplinary code;
    • Execute any reasonable ad hoc duty given by the Foreman;
    • Completing acceptance test log, noting serial numbers etc.;
    • Control of BHD.
    • Filling in of over time claim form.
