Artisan Instrumentation Mechanician - South32, Richards Bay at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

The purpose of the role is to perform Maintenance activities in order to repair and/or maintain equipment, thereby ensuring optimum availability and minimum breakdowns.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have an N3 Technical Certificate with a recognized Instrumentation Trade test and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in field instrumentation;
• Exposure to SAP, Allen Bradley PLC and HMI experience is essential;
• Experience in instruments calibration is essential;
• Experience in working with static and dynamic scales is essential;
• Working on CCTV systems and IT network basics is advantageous;
• In-depth understanding of various instruments operation is crucial in this role;
• The role involves   being on standby   or shifts from time to time, as required by the organization.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Ensure compliance to the SAP process for work execution and capture related transactional data into the SAP system;
• Execute work orders as per schedule and relevant work instructions associated with the work orders;
• Provide input into root cause analysis and subsequent resolution of issues affecting equipment reliability;
• Initiate updates to work procedures to ensure they are accurate and relevant to equipment as per the SAP process;
• Ensure adequate   seeping   of   corrective work to facilitate the planning process;
• Ensure returns of unused or reparable materials are processed accurately;
• Validate quality of work performed by 3rd parties and the related service entry sheets.
