Assistant Financial Accountant at Old Mutual South Africa

Job Description

At Old Mutual Corporate, our financial systems are the engine that enables us to power forward. We are searching for a skilled Assistant Financial Accountant to help produce accurate monthly statements for statutory and management purposes. The ideal person will have both day-to-day and ongoing impact on business units and will be individually accountable for achieving results through efforts of others over a period of up to a year.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

• Compiles and populates records to Trial Balance level.
• Prepares draft income statement and balance sheet.
• Analysis and investigations relating to numbers reported.

Reconciliations:

• Ensures accurate reconciliations are done and followed up.
• Reviews control accounts and reconciliations.

Team Effectiveness:

• Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others.
• Creates a climate for optimal performance.
• Guides and directs staff to achieve operational excellence standards.
• Individually accountable for others’ time, tasks and output quality.
• Manages performance.
• Plans & assigns work.
• Selects potential staff to sustain customer/ client service delivery.

Skills and Qualifications

• BTech / BCom qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years Finance experience.
• Oracle and FRP (Financial Reporting programme) knowledge and experience would be advantageous.
• Ability to work in a pressurised environment with tight deadlines.
