Assistant Warehouse Manager- Johannesburg at BCE Foodservice Equipment

Position Summary:

• The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Manager to ensure overall performance of the warehouse and to ensure that the warehouse performance objectives and standards are achieved.

Main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Assist the Warehouse Manager with overseeing all aspects of customer requirements including but not limited to inventory accuracy, distribution, receiving, housekeeping, and logistics.
• Working with the Warehouse Manager to ensure that all aspects of the warehouse operations are executed.
• Assist with managing operations activities such as planning, directing and implementing warehouse operations, procedures and providing support to meet prescribed productivity and service levels.
• Assist with labour management by directing the operation of the warehouse team to achieve prescribed objectives and standards.
• Develop and maintain a productive, motivated workforce by ensuring effective hiring, training and development of warehouse staff. Assist the Warehouse Manager to provide timely and appropriate performance reviews to all direct reports and ensures the same is done for all warehouse staff.
• Ensure that a professional and courteous relationship with all customers (internal and external) is maintained. Establish programmes to improve customer awareness at all levels in the warehouse.
• Assist with inventory management to ensure that all customers objectives and standards are met in regard to inventory accuracy.
• Assist the warehouse Manager to ensure accuracy of stock management of the warehouse in terms of damages and losses.
• Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining appropriate programmes to ensure that all safety and housekeeping standards and objectives are met. Additionally, ensure that there is compliance to regulations regarding safety certification to forklift drivers, and OHSA guidelines.
• Assist with procuring equipment and facilitate preventative maintenance services to assure efficient operations of all facets of the warehouse.
• Assist with driving automation within processes to achieve long term cost and efficiency savings
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• Relevant Degree – Highly beneficial
• At least 3 to 5 years general warehouse management experience
• End to end general warehouse management experience
• Excellent skills in planning, controlling, staffing, budgeting, organising, and communication are required.
• Ability to develop and execute a root cause analysis and fix
• Ability to develop new and innovative operational solutions
• Excellentnetworking, relationship building/maintenance, communication and presentation skills
• Financial acumen, ability to make effective decisions, and experience managing projects and risk
• Excellent Computer Skills (experience in WMS essential)
• Self-starter attitude
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
