    Aviation Painter - Kempton Park

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Prepare for an In-Process Inspection;
    • Ensure the use of appropriate technical references and tools in performing paint and sealing duties;
    • Mix and apply different primers based on the specified thickness criteria (epoxy, waterborne, zinc chromate);
    • Mix and apply various topcoat finishes including stripping and other detail working;
    • Utilise stencils and masking aids to apply markings accurately on the designated part;
    • Operate and comprehend MIL specifications, intricate blueprints, fabrication and assembly outlines, sketches, patterns, as well as written or verbal directives;
    • Establish, maintain, and operate standard shop equipment;
    • Execute tasks in environments sensitive to Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and maintain awareness accordingly;
    • Ensure all assemblies and detail parts are free from FOD’s;
    • Remove corrosion products using approved tools, equipment and techniques;
    • Install sealant where required;
    • Apply primer and topcoat where required;
    • Examine, execute touch-ups, and polish painted surfaces during the inspection process;
    • Communicate efficiently and collaborate with management, colleagues from different departments, and fellow co-workers.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12;
    • Certification in aircraft painting;
    • Minimum of 5 years aviation painting experience;
    • Knowledge of preparing aircraft and/or component parts by performing surface preparation tasks prior to application of primer and topcoat;
    • Must have basic knowledge pulling maintenance manuals / IPCs from a computer.
