Bridge Draughtsman at Hire Resolve

Job Description

• A well-established engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Bridge Draughtsman to join their Cape Town team.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality structural drawings and supporting the delivery of major bridge and infrastructure projects.
• The Bridge Draughtsman will be responsible for technical draughting within building and engineered structures, with a strong focus on bridge design and structural detailing.
•  The role requires accuracy, technical expertise, and the ability to deliver work to high engineering standards within strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Draught site plans, geometric layouts, and setting-out drawings for bridge structures
• Prepare detailed structural concrete and structural steel drawings in accordance with SANS standards
• Ensure all drawings are self-checked prior to submission for final review
• Assist with quantity take-offs and measurements
• Prepare structural concrete and steel tender documentation
• Issue approved drawings and schedules for construction use
• Review structural steel fabrication drawings and assist with site inspections where required
• Maintain accurate drawing registers, records, and quality documentation
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality assurance standards
• Mentor and support junior draughting staff when required
• Assist with shop drawing approvals, snag lists, and site documentation
• Stay updated with relevant drafting software and industry technologies
• Assist with archiving of completed project documentation
• Perform any additional duties as delegated by management or project leadership

 Requirements

• Minimum 10 years’ structural draughting experience
• Proven experience working on bridge projects
• Strong knowledge of structural concrete and structural steel detailing
• Ability to work independently and deliver accurate drawings under pressure
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• National Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software
• Reinforcement detailing experience advantageous
• 3D modelling experience (Revit or similar) advantageous
• Strong understanding of engineering standards and drafting protocols
• Ability to manage time and deliver projects within deadlines
