    Business Dev Manager, Amazon Gift Cards, South Africa

Amazon Gift Cards is a key 1P payment product to drive Amazon flywheel and serve gift needs of customers.

    We are looking for a customer-obsessed, process-driven, dynamic and self-directed Business Development Manager to build, grow and manage Amazon Gift Cards business in South Africa across B2B and Brick & Mortar channels. The candidate will develop and manage opportunities, monitor business performance and engage resources to drive growth for sales of Amazon’s Gift Card products across the offline and corporate landscape.

    The candidate will be responsible driving demand generation, partner negotiations, new partner onboarding, scaling of existing partners, campaigns with partners to systematically increase growth of Amazon Gift Card issuance, drive new customers and improve revenue/profitability for Amazon through Gift Card products. Since our environment at Amazon is fast-paced and complex, it requires a candidate who is flexible, pays attention to detail and is able to deal with ambiguity. The candidate should also have excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with B2B partners, distributors and retailers of gift cards and have strong data and analytics skill to lead business planning and forecasting. The candidate will also be responsible for channelizing customer feedback to product teams to improve the overall experience on gift cards. The candidate will collaborate with internal and external cross functional teams, spanning product management, operations, engineering, customer service, finance, accounting, tax, legal and transaction risk/fraud management.


    This position will be based in Cape Town, South Africa.
    Key job responsibilities

    • Business Development: Identifying and converting opportunities in the South Africa to introduce Amazon Gift Cards within various use-cases, industries, catalogues etc. This is the key responsibility for the candidate to create a market and fulfill demand for this product through B2B and Brick and Mortar / Offline channels.
    • Account and Relationship Management: Act as the main point of contact for a key distribution partner and its associated retailers, supporting all aspects of the Amazon Gift Card business within its portfolio, including demand generation, negotiations, product placements, marketing promotions, customer experience and customer service.
    • Strategic Planning and Analysis: Help define the right product strategy within the distributor’s retail accounts and draw insights from all marketing and sales activities across the portfolio to inform demand and margin growth efforts.
    • Marketing Program Management: Help drive cost-effective marketing activities and optimize promotional campaigns for increased efficacy of the marketing program.
    • Process Improvement: Drive continuous process improvement to scale this growing category with unique needs in areas such as business development, inventory management, marketing promotions and business performance reporting etc.

    We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
    Cape Town, ZAF
    Basic Qualifications

    • 5+ years of business development, or account management with a proven ability to deliver results experience
    • 4+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
    • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software
    • Experience in setting up and managing a sales pipeline
    • Top business school MBA with excellent oral and written English and Arabic, capability to write formal documents.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
    • Bachelor's degree in sales/marketing
    • Strong Excel skills, with deep experience in demand forecasting and marketing ROI analysis.
