    Business Development Coordinator

    Purpose:                                                                                         

    • The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) is responsible for working with the BD leadership and Practice Group Heads (PGHs) to develop and implement innovative short and long term strategies, tactics and activities that will support the Firm’s strategy. 

    Experience and Qualifications:

    • At least 3 years’ experience in business development or a related field within a corporate, legal or professional services environment essential
    • Completed Degree/ Diploma in a relevant field required

     
    Key Accountabilities and Activities:

    • Provide monthly activity and progress reports in line with the reporting structure in place within the Business Development team.
    • Drive the department’s usage of the deal and matter reporting to ensure high quality and consistent usage.
    • Develop, advise and support the implementation of BD initiatives, campaigns and projects relating to the department. 
    • Help manage the directory submissions and Partner interview process, working in conjunction with other members of the wider business development function. 
    • Develop and implement an internal communications plan to facilitate and encourage information sharing within and across practice groups. 
    • Be custodian of relevant departmental information and marketing materials and ensuring these are kept up to date.
    • Support assigned client teams with the development and execution of client plans.
    • Assist with the role-out of business development-related initiatives: events, conferences, trips (both internal and external).
    • Set up and coordinate ongoing meetings as required and prepare and circulate meeting notes with action points and subsequent follow ups. Drive and implement completion of action points and follow ups.
    • Provide support to the New Business Team (NBT) on relevant pitches, tenders, credential statements RFPs and the like and client briefing notes (collectively NBT documents). Review all draft NBT documents as a final check for compliance with requirements and common sense before documents are sent to the relevant line lawyer, head or stakeholder within the business.
    • Prepare monthly status reports in relation to BD and marketing activities for Management Board report.
    • Update InterAction (the Bowmans client relationship management system) with all applicable related activities.
    • Identify and evaluate which conferences team members should support (as speakers or delegates).
    • Directory and Award Submissions – Coordinate and compile submissions related to relevant legal directories and awards.
    • Support with analysing research data to prepare annual trend reports and other research tasks as required. 

    Relationship Building

    • Develop and maintain relationships with all levels of staff as a trusted resource.
    • Maintain strong working relationships with and have open and transparent communication with the BDMs and other BDCs and between all members of the broader BD team.
    • Work closely with the senior BD management team to ensure alignment in our overall approach
    • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with other law firms, clients, think tanks and professional services firms. 

    Management and Leadership

    • Support senior BD management in managing the development and operation of an effective high performing team.
    • Share best practice examples with team.

    Teamwork

    • Communication and teamwork with the other functions within the BD team, for example, the BDMs and BDCs, the NBT, the Client Development Team and the Marketing and Communications Team.
