Job Description

• We are looking for a hands-on Carpenter Assistant to support our carpentry team, particularly in cabinetry and vanity projects. This role involves material preparation, assisting with installations, tool handling, and general site support. Candidates should have a basic understanding of carpentry tools, be eager to learn, and be physically capable of handling job site demands. Cabinetry experience is a strong advantage.

Requirements

•  Grade 12 or NQF 4
• 2+ years’ experience in finish carpentry
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions
• Knowledge of power tools, including skill saw, mitre saw and jigsaw possession of basic hand of tools and construction techniques
• Willingness to work overtime when required
• Good physical condition and physically capable of lifting up to 36 kg and climbing ladders
• Strong knowledge of lumber grades and countertop materials
• Customer-focused with a service-orientated mindset
• Punctual, reliable, and hardworking
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings
• Attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with cutting, measuring, and preparing materials wood and materials accurately according to project specifications and plans.
• Install cabinets, countertops, and moulding according to specs
• Set up and maintain carpentry tools, ensuring they are in safe working condition and available when needed.
• Carry tools and supplies to and from work areas
• Help maintain a clean and safe job site
• Support carpenters with installation and repairs
• Work closely with other carpenters to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Learn and follow safety protocols
