Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or an equivalent degree in accounting
• Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) or an equivalent qualification
• Completion of the SAICA articles
• Successful completion of both the ITC and APC
• Registered CA(SA) preferable

Technical Accounting Knowledge

• International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS): Understanding of IFRS is critical, as these standards govern the preparation of financial statements.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Taxation Knowledge: Familiarity with South African tax laws, including corporate tax, VAT, and personal income tax.
• Auditing Skills: Understanding of auditing procedures, including risk assessments, internal controls, and audit planning, even if the individual is not in an auditing role.
• Accounting Software Proficiency: Knowledge of popular accounting systems such as SAP, Sage, or Xero, and the ability to adapt to new systems.

Business Acumen

• Understanding of Business Strategy: Ability to evaluate financial data in the context of the broader business environment and provide relevant insights to management.
• Risk Management: Identifying financial and operational risks and suggesting mitigation strategies.
• Financial Modelling: Ability to build and interpret financial models, especially for budgeting, forecasting, and valuations.

Communication Skills

• Report Writing: Clear and concise writing skills for drafting reports, board papers, and other professional documents.
• Presentation Skills: Ability to present financial data and insights effectively to stakeholders
• Interpersonal Communication: Effective communication ensuring information is accurately conveyed.

• Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess complex financial and operational problems and propose practical solutions.

Technical IT Skills
