Chief Electrician at Barberton Mines

Description

• Provide coaching and technical support to Electrical personnel at operations, during breakdowns and on a daily basis.
• Develop and implement electrical standards and procedures.
• Audit installations and over inspect electrical maintenance.
• Coordinate installation, upgrading, repairs and maintenance of equipment between operations.
• Explore new technology and adopt industry best practices within Barberton Mines.
• Ensure availability of emergency generators.
• Analyse electrical consumption and promote energy efficiency.
• Liaise with Eskom and suppliers.
• Witness FAT tests to standard for new equipment (MV & LV) to be used on the Mine.

Requirements

• NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or Adult Senior Certificate) with English literacy or N2 in Engineering studies
• Completed formal Learnership programme prior to obtaining an Electrician artisan trade certificate as recognised by the MQA
• Qualified with trade papers (section 13 or 26D)
• Have a valid medium voltage certificate
• Minimum 8 year’s experience as a supervisor within a mining environment.
• Valid Certificate of physical fitness
• Ability to read and write in English
• Ability to communicate with people on different levels
• Own Transport as position requires standby
• Drivers License
