    Chief Executive Officer - Nigel

    Your Future Role

    Take on a new challenge and apply your leadership expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to the Managing Director for Alstom Southern Africa, and work alongside passionate, motivated and dedicated teammates. This position is based in Gauteng, South Africa at our operations in Nigel.

    You’ll provide overall leadership, integration, and coordination in the execution of the organization’s mandate and strategy and ensure that the company’s contractual deliverables fulfil the project obligations across the business value chain.

    We’ll look to you for:

    Leading the Business Strategy

    • Lead the overall development, management, and execution of the Alstom Ubunye strategy and annual plans to ensure the successful execution of the Alstom Ubunye mandate.
    • Oversee the development and execution of Operational Plans and drive the cascading of divisional operational plans into business activities and objectives.
    • Lead the establishment, review and monitoring of key performance indicators related to the strategy and business plans and identify areas for internal improvement.
    • Oversee all strategic initiatives to ensure that their conception and implementation support the organization’s strategic objectives and mandate.
    • Drive the vision, mission, and culture of Alstom Ubunye.
    • Provide leadership and develop a strong team environment committed to the organization’s mission, values and objectives in a manner that instils trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Lead and drive the reputation and positioning of Alstom Ubunye as a credible brand.
    • Strategically drive talent management and a culture that builds and support the Employee Experience.

    Operations Performance (Manufacturing and Technical Services)

    • Direct a comprehensive operations strategy to drive performance internally and enhance service offering to the customer.
    • Ensure that the business’ operating model optimises revenue generation.
    • Ensure that the organisation is change ready to deliver on development of new market segments as directed by stakeholders.
    • Lead the development of new product/service offerings into existing/new markets achieving targets and mandates set by the customer or the changing business landscape.
    • Ensure the business is attuned to market development and has the capability to respond competition and new entrants in the market.

    Governance and Compliance Management

    • Drive the implementation of remedial measures on all risks, audits and accreditation findings to mitigate risks within tolerance levels.
    • Ensure compliance with Board resolutions, Companies Act, King IV as amended and other policy directives, regulations, and legislation.
    • Ensure adherence and compliance across the organisation to all relevant legislations, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Drive the development of an organisational risk management plan and monitor risk related activities according to the Risk Management Framework and applicable prescripts.
    • Lead the application of governance controls in Alstom Ubunye specific policies and procedures, including Ethics and Compliance.
    • Monitor changes in the regulatory environment and ensure that appropriate operational controls are implemented to address new requirements across functions.

    Financial Management

    • Oversee the planning of the Alstom Ubunye long-term financial focus and the annual budget cycle aligned with the operational and strategic plans.
    • Monitor and direct the overall financial performance of the organisation and improvement or cost saving initiatives.
    • Oversee the project deliverables and associated financial plans to drive efficiencies, compliance, and operational initiatives in line with the business strategy.
    • Ensure that financial reporting is done in accordance with prescribed guidelines, standards and governance protocols.

    People Management

    • Drive the Alstom Ubunye human capital agenda through facilitating alignment of deliverables across functions, setting KPAs to drive a customer-centric performance culture.
    • Drive the achievement of transformational objectives and be the change champion for all diversity and culture programs.
    • Drive the implementation of a coaching and learning culture, defining the leadership and functional competencies required to drive behaviours and values.
    • Review and approve the workforce plan to enable resource and capacity requirements and succession planning.
    • Provide leadership in talent management and employee retention interventions to position Alstom Ubunye as an Employer of Choice.
    • Lead and cultivate an employee-centric culture through a robust communication strategy to enhance employee engagement.

    Customer Relationship Management

    • Lead high-level engagements with the customer to develop line of sight on short to medium term requirements and facilitate resource and service plans.
    • Provide support and direction to teams across functions in identifying and mitigating operational barriers to enhance customer service.
    • Create synergies across functions to optimise customer-centricity.
    • Lead the reporting to the customer on products and services, critical milestones achieved, and risks or challenges related to set targets.

    Stakeholder Relations

    • Accountable for Board liaisons and facilitating the reporting and protocols between Board members and the Executive team.
    • Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships for the purpose of driving the business agenda, knowledge sharing and managing the organisation’s reputation.
    • Lead the participation in industry, government forums and initiatives to raise the profile of the Alstom Ubunye brand.
    • Be the focal point for communicating business performance and related information to relevant stakeholders as required.
    • Lead the cost saving and supplier risk initiatives in Supply Chain through process optimisation and risk-balancing.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION

    Required:

    • Master’s degree in business management / leadership or related field – NQF LEVEL 9
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/finance/Operations – NQF LEVEL 8

    Experience

    • 20 years’ relevant work experience in manufacturing/engineering or related environment
