Chinese Translator - Civil engineering at Cactus Communications

Job Description

We are looking for experienced translators to work on academic manuscripts written in Korean/Chinese. To qualify, you must have technical expertise in your field. Experience working in a foreign-language setting will be preferred. Essentially, your work will involve translating an academic research paper from the original language to native English.

We currently have openings for freelance translators for the following language pairs:

• Korean–English
• English-Korean
• Simplified Chinese-English

You Need To Have

• Fluency in at least one of the following languages: Korean, Simplified Chinese (essential)
• Native-level fluency in English (essential)
• An understanding and knowledge of technical terminology as expressed in the native language as well as in English is highly preferred

Expertise/an advanced degree in any of the following fields:

• Art - Art, Media, Communication
• Commerce - Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics
• Earth and Environmental Science - Earth, Atmospheric, Planetary, Energy, Sustainability
• Engineering - Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Petroleum
• IT - Computer Science, Information Technology (IT)
• Life Science - Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Plant and Animal Science
• Medicine - Medicine, Surgery, Nursing, Physiology, Healthcare, Oncology, Cardiology , Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, Endocrinology etc.
• Physical Science - Physics, Chemistry and Materials Science
• Minimum 1 year of translation experience
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word
• Strong time management skills (you will be required to work on deadlines)
• Ability to work independently
