Job Description

Golder Associates is seeking a Civil Engineer to join the Water Engineering Design Team within the Water Business Unit. This person will be responsible for assisting with the design, drawing and construction monitoring of infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, drawing and construction monitoring of infrastructure projects including:
• Pipelines and pipework for Newtonian fluids
• Pipelines and pipework for Non Newtonian fluids
• Open Chanel Flow hydraulics
• Storm Water Designs
• Alignment of roads and terraces
• Earthworks modelling
• Pipeline modelling for water hammer, pump selecting etc.
• Undertake planning, engineering design work and supervision of construction as required and as directed by Project Leaders or Engineers
• Prepare cost estimates
• Ensure all designs and drawings are properly documented and checked
• Construction administration skills
• Attend site and other meetings, to action times timeously and effectively
• Achieve minimum financial productivity on all projects
• Ensure effective systems are implemented for good record keeping – files, reports, drawings, construction date etc.
• Liaise with other staff working on projects at all levels
• Assist with contract administration including preparation of certificates and “as built” drawings, construction dates etc.
• Ensure suitability of technical proposals
• Compile letters, reports and prepare tender documentation for approval by the Project Leader
• Provide service excellence
• Compliance with Quality Management System
• Contribution to efficiency and effectiveness of sector
• The candidate must be able to undertake and review associated works designs and demonstrate a sound technical knowledge of contract and construction procedures. (The candidate must demonstrate highly specialised design)
• The position is head office based; however the successful candidate must be prepared and free to travel extensively both within South Africa and within the African Continent to manage projects and engage in client and other meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

• BEng/BSc/BTech – Civil Engineer Degree
• Minimum 6-8– years’ experience
• Professionally Registered will be an advantage
• Civil 3D and Civil Designer
• AutoCAD and Mates experience (surfmates, pipemate etc.)
• At least 6 years’ experience with pipeline ,pump station and storm water design
• KY-Pipe, PC SWWM, Fluid Flow, HEC RAS, or Bentley simulation software will be an advantage
• MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced), MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook , MS Projects
