Civil Structural Senior Design Engineer at Fluor Corporation

Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as an Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or performs complex to difficult engineering assignments, evaluates, selects, and applies advanced engineering techniques to a broad set of complex assignments.

• Provide overall functional leadership and management of the CSA Engineering & Design team.
• Develop and review project scopes and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects.
• Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including resource plans & forecasts.
• Develop and review technical specifications, including design criteria.
• Perform calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures.
• Incorporate HSE factors in designs.
• Identify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and initiate trends or change management.
• Deliver quality work and adhere to Fluor’s QMS
• Ensure technical integrity of CSA designs in the MPG.
• Participate in people development through coaching and mentoring.
• Conducting site visits as required on projects

Basic Job Requirements

• A four (4) year bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent
• Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
• Membership in external technical body (e.g., SAICE) is preferred
• 10 to 15 years of relevant civil/structural engineering & design experience in the EPC/EPCM project environment, preferably in the petrochemicals sector.

• Advanced knowledge of: Analyzing complex structures; dynamic analysis and design (structural); Vendor drawing review, intergroup review – squad checking; computer modeling and analysis (structural); Engineering and fabricator drawing checking; Managing and leading multiple small to medium MPG projects
