Clinical Psychologist (Grade 1) REF NO: KDHC 04/2026 at KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health

REQUIREMENTS :

• Senior Certificate/Matric or Grade 12 An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Clinical Psychologist.
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist.
• Experience For Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Appropriate clinical knowledge & experience in the field of Clinical Psychology; Psychotherapy, assessment, counselling.
• Analytical report writing skills.
• Knowledge of current health and public service legislation, regulations and policies.
• Sound knowledge of professional ethics.
• Research, teaching, time management and training skills.

DUTIES :

• Provide supervision to Intern Clinical Psychologists and participation in intern academic programme.
• Provide psychological service delivery at hospital level.
• Participate in hospital teams/committees.
• Support hospital activities related to mental health.
• Supervise work of the psychometrists in the hospital.
• Implement community outreach programmes.
• Assist in training for primary health care professionals.
