As The Successful Candidate, You Will

• Assist with preparation of tender documents, tender stage and adjudication report for procurement of contractors;
• Assist with finalization of contract(s) between the employer and contractor;
• Arrange and attend site handover meetings;
• Issue construction documentation;
• Chair regular site, technical and progress meetings;
• Review contractor’s progress and quality control programme;
• Adjudicate and resolve financial claims by contractor(s);
• Assist in the resolution of contractual claims by the contractor;
• Establish and maintain quality management control system (QMS);
• Prepare pro-active estimates of proposed variations for client decision making;
• Review and process payment certificates for submission to the client;
• Clarify details and descriptions during construction as required;
• Issue contract instructions as and when required;
• Inspect the works and issue practical completion and defects lists;
• Prepare close-out report and arrange delivery of all test certificates, materials as-builts report, and as-built drawings.
• Inspect and verify the rectification of defects and conclude final accounts.

You Bring To The Role

• A BSc, BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 8 - 10 years’ experience as a Contract Engineer on roads and bridges projects
• Registered with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng.
• Registration with SACPCMP as a Pr CPM will be advantageous
• Demonstrate experience of working with different forms of contracts especially GCC and FIDIC on large scale road projects involving freeway interchanges, bridges, drainage and road rehabilitation
• Must have been involved in adjudication of claims and dispute adjudication process
• Good understanding of specifications and design guidelines for Roads & Bridges projects at National, Provincial and Municipal level
• Proficient in Microsoft Project or any other programming software e.g. Primavera
