Our client is seeking an experienced, commercially minded, and analytical Corporate Underwriter to join their Johannesburg team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical underwriting expertise, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to make sound, profitable risk decisions.
Responsibilities
Underwrite new and existing corporate business within guidelines
Assess risks and determine appropriate terms and pricing
Build strong relationships with brokers and key stakeholders
Manage renewals, amendments, and portfolio performance
Analyse risk and profitability to support underwriting decisions
Prepare renewal reviews, broker presentations, and reports
Collaborate with claims, risk engineering, and operations teams
Requirements
Relevant insurance qualification
Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in Corporate Asset Programs
RE5 qualification and FAIS compliance
Insurance regulatory knowledge
Strong technical underwriting and negotiation skills
Excellent relationship management and communication abilities
