    Crisis & Continuity and HSSE analyst

    Job Profile Summary

    Role

    • The Crisis & Continuity and HSSE analyst role is a key position in the GBS South Africa Centre with accountability for all local C&CM and HSSE topics, including supporting the global GBS Business Continuity Management agenda. The role will also function as a POPIA champion and as the ethics and compliance liaison for the GBS SA team. 

    HSSE topics:

    • Occupational health and safety, including input into safety of the building that GBS operates
    • Security issues relating to the protection of all corporate assets (people, assets, building/facilities, operations and reputation) within bp’s operations in GBS South Africa centre

    Environmental management
    HSSE legal compliance 

    • The position holder is responsible for the management of HSSE related aspects related to GBS staff, 3rd party contractors, and partners‘ staff within the centre.
    • In addition, the role will support GBS’s Crisis & Continuity Management (C&CM) programme in conformance with Group Defined Practice 4.6. The analyst will provide local linkage to GBS’s Business Continuity Management plan and locally champion business continuity planning within the centre. The role will also support local incident and crisis management teams during responses to actual incidents or crises.
    • The C&CM/HSSE Analyst will report to the Business Manager, HSSE & CCM and will be a part of the global GSSE HSSE and C&CM leadership team. Furthermore, the role will link to bp HSSE and C&CM authorities for technical development guidance and to ensure best practice and effective knowledge transfer.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Accountable and responsible for all centre-related HSSE activities
    • Manages the enforcement of occupational health and safety standards, including site and legal compliance 
    • Ensure bp Group HSSE standards are met and information is correctly reported 
    • Maintain a local HSSE data register 
    • Provides regular trainings in accordance with local Laws and regulations
    • Identifies and assesses risks and develop plans to mitigate key exposures 
    • Maintain and support physical centre security procedures and plans
    • Measure and monitor HSSE programme delivery
    • Management and monitoring of centre environment performance
    • Drive engagement and knowledge of HSSE across the centre and role model HSSE
    • Participate in regional and global HSSE bp networks, GBS C&CM/HSSE

    Accountable and responsible for all centre-related C&CM activities

    • Support in the implementation of the Crisis and Continuity Management & Emergency Response (CCM&ER) Group Defined Practice. 
    • Identify crisis and continuity management scenarios 
    • Support implementation and maintenance of emergency response, crisis and continuity management and business continuity plans across the centre
    • Perform tests and evaluations of emergency management plans
    • Support delivery of C&CM training courses within the centre
    • Support incident, crisis management and business continuity teams during actual incidents or crises. 
    • Enable the design, execution and support for tabletop exercises, drills, and full scale exercises including the participation of external parties.
    • Provide on-call and out-of-hours support for the Incident Management Centre/Team.
    • Analyse incident and exercise lessons learnt, identify actions and follow up on closure
    • Act as Emergency Response Coordinator within BP Incident Management Team organization in the event of an incident.
    • Participate in regional and global C&CM bp networks, including GBS C&CM/ HSSE and E&C

    POPIA Champion and Ethics and Compliance liaison responsibilities 

    • Responsible for change management and embedding POPIA requirements including delivery of associated activities 
    • Assist in mobilising, coordinating, and enabling “local” change across business units and teams and increase opportunities for the sharing of knowledge and best practice around POPIA compliance
    • Responsible for supporting the rollout and delivery of the local E&C program in liaison with the Global GBS ECL and Regional E&C Team;
    • Create awareness of our Values & Behaviours (V&Bs) and Code of Conduct
    • Foster a culture a speak up culture based on our values and behaviors

    Education & Experience Required:
    Education

    •     Professional qualification in Occupational HSSE, C&CM, Security, or related topic 

    Experience 

    •     Experience in business services, outsourcing or similar
    •     Strong experience of Health & Safety and business continuity planning (BCP) activities in a facilities environment
    •     Strong communication skills and good at collaborating with and influencing stakeholders
