    Executive Secretary (x4 Positions)

    • 1 post in Directorate Integrated Human Settlements, 1 post in Executive Secretary Directorate Planning and Development
    • Task Level 9: R274 704 to R356 544 (Basic Salary)
    • R441 008 to R546 832 (Total Cost to Council Package)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 Matric Certificate
    • Executive Secretary Certificate or relevant Secretarial certificate
    • 5 – 8 years’ relevant administrative and secretarial experience with supervisory experience
    • Computer Literacy MS Office
    • Office management and administration skills
    • Knowledge of local government related legislations and policies
    • Proficient in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape

    Senior Environmental Officer

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    • Tertiary qualification (Degree/ National Diploma) in Environmental Management, Environmental Sciences and/ or related studies (e.g. Nature Conservation, Forestry, Sustainability, Climate Change, Water Management/ Hydrology etc)
    • 5 - 8 years’ experience in the related field of air quality management/ climate change/ sustainable energy and environmental health/ management with two (2) years at supervisory level.
    • Post-graduate qualification in Environmental Management/ related field will be an added advantage
    • In depth understanding and application of the procedures, laws and by-laws applicable to the functionality.
    • Environmental Management Inspector’s Certificate
    • Own vehicle and valid driver’s license
    • GIS knowledge and experience will be an added advantage
    • Registered with a relevant professional body
    • Valid Code EB Driver’s License
    • Computer Literacy: MS Office
    • Willing to work overtime and/ or to attend meetings after normal office hours and/ or outside of the office environment when required
    • Proficient in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Implementing the operational aspects of invasive alien plant management and the rehabilitation and restoration of freshwater system (including rivers and wetlands).
    • Implement and maintain purposeful and focussed environmental education and awareness programmes with the public and civil society stakeholders.
    • Identify and recommend new technologies and approaches in the environmental management field.
    • Building a skills base in the Greater Knysna Municipal area for the implementation of environmental programmes.
    • Enforcement of relevant environmental legislation.
    • Facilitate the participation of Knysna Municipality in Regional, Provincial and National climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor compliance with environmental legislation by other Municipal departments.
    • Monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Outeniqua Sensitive Coastal Area Regulations (OSCAER),
    • relevant policies and legislation as well as maintaining Blue Flag and Green Coast Standards.
    • Assisting with the identification of all funding opportunities and procurement of funding on behalf of the Municipality.
    • Commenting on and participate in EIA processes.
    • Evaluating EIR,s and EMP,s for proposed developments.
    • Executing tasks associated with administration and reporting.

    Principal Technician

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    • A relevant National Diploma in Engineering and registration as a Pr Techni Eng.
    • 8 years’ or more relevant experience post registration
    • Valid Code EB Drivers License
    • Computer literacy: MS Office
    • Proficient in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Management of Technical/Operational Support Services provided to the Water and Wastewater Division
    • Assist with Town Planning applications relating to water and sewer services
    • Manage all operational and maintenance projects in the division
    • Manage and ensure that the procurement of goods and services within the division comply with Council’s
    • Supply Chain Management policy and procedures
    • Perform and assist with budget control for the division
    • Manage day-to-day functioning and administration of the division
    • Draft and finalize reports for the division
    • The management of Human Resources in the Section in line with municipal policies and procedure as well as applicable legislation.

    Temporary Executive Secretary - Community Services

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    • National Certificate in Public Management (N6)
    • At least 18 months relevant experience with 1-year relevant Local Government experience.
    • Advanced Computer Literacy (MS Office Package)
    • Experience on the Promun System (capturing of quotes and requisitions)
    • Experience on the Collaborator System (uploading items for section 80)
