Data Engineer (D) at Ovations Technologies

Job Description:

• This is a 6 – month contract with our client in the Fintech industry
• We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Manager: AI Data Engineer to lead the design, construction, and operation of data pipelines and data products purpose-built for AI and advanced analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• AI Data Architecture: Design and implement scalable batch and streaming data pipelines to support model training, feature generation, and real-time inference.
• Feature Stores & Data Products: Build, standardise, and operate feature stores to ensure consistency between training and inference across the group.
• Data Governance & Observability: Enforce end-to-end data lineage, traceability, and automated quality checks. Build pipeline observability to proactively detect data drift and anomalies.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with MLOps, AI Platform Engineering, Security, and Risk teams to deliver compliant, production-ready, and high-quality data assets.
• Compliance & Privacy: Ensure all AI datasets comply with local market regulations, data sovereignty, and security standards (privacy-by-design).

Requirements

Education:

• Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science, Big Data, Information Systems, Engineering, or an AI/Data-related field.

Experience & Skills:

• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, specifically building large-scale batch/streaming pipelines and feature engineering pipelines.
• Proven experience with Cloud Data Platforms (Azure is a strict requirement).
• Deep understanding of both structured and unstructured data processing.
• Strong knowledge of feature store concepts, data pipeline orchestration, and pipeline observability.
• Advantageous: Experience within Fintech, Financial Services, Telco, or heavily regulated, large-scale environments.
