Data Governance Analyst (Banking) at IQbusiness

Job Description

• We are seeking for a Data Governance Analyst who will be responsible for supporting the bank's enterprise data governance framework to ensure data is accurate, secure, compliant, and fit for business use. They will work closely with business units, data owners, data stewards, risk teams, compliance functions, and technology teams to establish and maintain data governance standards, policies, controls, and processes that support regulatory requirements and business objectives.
• The successful candidate will help drive data quality improvements, maintain data governance artefacts, monitor compliance with data policies, and contribute to a culture of data accountability across the organization.

Responsibilities

Data Governance Framework

• Support the implementation and ongoing management of the bank's Data Governance Framework.
• Assist in developing, maintaining, and communicating data governance policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
• Ensure governance processes align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Promote data ownership and stewardship across business functions.

Data Quality Management

• Monitor and report on data quality metrics, issues, and remediation activities.
• Conduct data quality assessments and identify root causes of data issues.
• Work with business and technology teams to implement corrective actions and preventive controls.
• Support the development of data quality rules, controls, and monitoring processes.

Metadata and Data Catalog Management

• Maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, data lineage documentation, and metadata repositories.
• Ensure critical data elements are identified, documented, and governed appropriately.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of data catalog and metadata management tools.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management

• Assist in ensuring compliance with banking regulations, privacy legislation, and internal data policies.
• Support data-related audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance assessments.
• Monitor adherence to data governance standards and escalate non-compliance where necessary.
• Participate in risk assessments related to data management and governance.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with business units, risk, compliance, technology, and operational teams.
• Support Data Governance Councils, Working Groups, and Steering Committees.
• Facilitate workshops and awareness sessions on data governance principles and responsibilities.
• Provide guidance to data owners and data stewards on governance practices.

Data Governance Reporting

• Prepare governance dashboards, reports, and management information packs.
• Track governance initiatives, action plans, and remediation activities.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and management.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to enhance data governance processes and controls.
• Support governance tool implementations and process automation initiatives.
• Stay informed about emerging regulatory requirements and industry trends in data governance.

Experience

• 5–7 years' experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Business Intelligence, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Experience within banking, financial services, or highly regulated industries preferred.
• Exposure to data governance frameworks, data quality management, and metadata management practices.
• Experience supporting regulatory compliance and audit activities.
• Familiarity with enterprise data management tools and reporting platforms.
