Data Governance and Data Management (D) at Ovations Technologies

Job Description:

• This is a 6  - month contract.
• Our client, a leading Fintech innovator, is looking for a strategic leader to treat data as a high-value asset.
• In this role, you will bridge the gap between compliance and innovation—embedding data quality, privacy, and usability across 16 markets while actively enabling responsible AI, regulatory compliance, and data monetization.
• You will partner closely with Data Engineering, AI/ML teams, Risk, and Legal to build a trusted, secure-by-design data culture.

Key Performance Areas

• Strategy & Operating Model: Define and evolve the enterprise AI data governance framework, policies, and federated operating model across all markets.
• Data Quality & Lineage: Establish enterprise data quality standards, master data management, and end-to-end data cataloging/lineage aligned to DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM.
• Responsible AI & Model Governance: Define ethical AI principles (fairness, transparency, bias mitigation) and manage training-data lineage across the model lifecycle.
• Privacy & Compliance: Embed privacy-by-design and data-protection controls aligned to POPIA, GDPR, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS.
• Data Monetisation & Literacy: Establish the consent and data-sharing guardrails required to safely commercialize data products while uplifting enterprise data literacy.

Requirements include:

• Experience: 8+ years in Data Governance, Data Management, or Risk Management within Fintech, Banking, or Telecoms.
• Framework Mastery: Deep knowledge of data frameworks (DMBOK/DCAM) and regulatory landscapes (POPIA/GDPR).
• AI/ML Familiarity: Practical understanding of cloud data pipelines and data structures used for training GenAI and classical ML models.
• Stakeholder Influence: Proven ability to navigate complex, multi-country matrix structures and translate technical governance into business value.
