Data Scientist at DotModus

We value a Data Scientist as someone who works to build and deliver machine learning solutions using multiple methodologies and technologies, to various consumers, in ways and forms that make sense and add value. This definition is very broad, as is the field of data science.

As a Data Scientist you may need to develop predictive models, use existing off-the-shelf cognitive services from our cloud hyperscalers (GCP, AWS, Azure) or develop new models within the field of deep learning in an effort to generate value for our clients.

You have awesome knowledge about the following concepts

• Data - Uses methodical machine learning and statistical techniques to select and tune algorithms
• Experiments - Setup and execute experiments to quantify the performance of algorithms
• Stakeholder Management - Work with multiple stakeholders to understand the business problem and translate into deliverables
• Project Management - Work across a range of cross-functional projects to manage and deliver machine learning solutions to our clients
• Story telling - Tell engaging stories using non-technical language and visualizations to our clients and stakeholders 
• Use Case experience - Have completed a number of Machine Learning models, which have been deployed and run in Production

You have the following technical competencies

• Extract, analyse and interpret large amounts of data from a variety of data sources
• Ability to engineer and generate features for the purposes of building feature stores for training machine learning models.
• Working knowledge of deep learning toolkits such as Tensorflow or Pytorch
• Ability to define and understand the productisation of machine learning models
• Proficient knowledge of a general purpose programming language like Python for machine learning and data analytics
• Working knowledge of SQL queries, that can relate, transform and aggregate data from many differing sources where natural keys may or may not exist would be a bonus
• Working knowledge of any of the Cloud Hyperscalers would be a bonus

• The ability to work without supervision, and take accountability for the work you deliver
• The ability to liaise with a client, sifting through the fluff and extracting the actual requirements
• The ability to start with simply a problem statement, and be able to research, develop and deliver a solution or proven hypothesis
