DDS Specialist – Mining at Gilbarco Veeder Root

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure BAU Data, reports and other Information outputs are published and/or distributed according to contractual obligation
• Automate repeat work whilst ensuring consistency in terms of Data integrity and dispensing
• Set and monitor data diagnostics daily in terms of data quality exceptions and action accordingly
• Have client interactions when required to keep abreast of their changing and evolving business landscape so that DDS solutions can be proposed and applied
• Identify key challenges or business issues within the client business space: Provide advanced analytical analysis of customer information to determine trends and highlight possible areas of improvement or identify areas of concern that should be discussed with the customer
• Apply analytical models and conduct multidimensional analysis to fully understand the client business issue(s) and then test best-fit solutions and dispense insight driven advice
• Engage with clients to influence change and adopt Gilbarco AFS Information Services as a key contributor to bettering their business, when required or offer technical advice to peers wanting to achieve the same
• Proactively analyse the client’s business and operations to devise pre-emptive business solutions and insights
• Test hypothesis on new models to deliver new insight offerings
• Understand the evolving micro- and macro- economic factors that influence internal and external clients and apply those learnings to our service offerings and data outputs
• Contribute to the strategic direction of ‘Leading through DDS’ and act as a sounding board for new ideas emanating from DDS
• Ensure all new ventures, client interactions and proposed solutions are tracked, documented and updated to a common database so that all successes and failures can be used as reference material for any new service offerings

Knowledge

• At least 7-years’ experience in a position delivering analytical and Data & Decision Science services to external customers
• In depth knowledge and experience in Advanced Analytics
• Highly experienced and competent in advanced SQL querying, developing Functions; Stored Procedures, triggers etc,
• In depth understanding of the business landscape, specific nuances of the client’s fleet (e.g. dynamic allocation by cost centres etc.), exceptions and other processes of the Client
• Ability to start working on the client without delay
• Identify underlying relations in data via complex statistical analysis
• Understand models and the interaction between different variables
• Understand and have experience in using complex statistical models
• Ability to understand when a solution does not make sense even when the calculations are correct.
• Demonstrated ability to use various analytical approaches to understand a situation.
• Proven experience of delivering accurate and high-quality analysis and delivering value-adding insights and advice to clients
• Experience in automating data objects
• Previous experience in delivering analytical and information services to external customers relating to fuel and fleet.
