Design Engineer (132KV OHL) at Stefanutti Stocks

Key Responsibilities

• Line Profiling & Spotting: Perform tower spotting and line profiling using PLS-CADD, ensuring optimum tower positions while adhering to clearance, terrain, and servitude constraints.
• Technical Design: Prepare and approve design deliverables, including line profiles, stringing charts, and plan-and-profile drawings.
• Structural Analysis: Conduct structural loading analysis for lattice towers and poles using PLS-TOWER and PLS-POLE.
• Route Optimisation: Evaluate alternative line routes for cost-efficiency, constructability, and environmental impact.
• Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with international and local standards, such as SANS 10280 / IEC 60826 and NTCSA and Eskom Standards (where applicable to projects), and regional grid codes.
• Project Support: Provide technical input for tender submissions and support site teams during construction and commissioning phases.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, with Professional ECSA Registration. (Pr. Tech also Acceptable)

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated experience in OHL design, specifically with 132kV systems or higher.
• Eskom Self-Build 132 kV Overhead Line Experience, including DRT’s Approval processes and compiling and signing off on Final Design Packages. Understanding of TRMSCAAC1 Design Specifications and implementing in designs.
• MV overhead line design for renewable plant projects, typically Wind Energy Farms / Facilities.
• Understanding Soil Type Analysis and Foundation Designs & Soil Type Specifications.

Software Mastery:

• Expert-level proficiency in the PLS-CADD Suite (including Tower and Pole) and AutoCAD.

Professional Registration:

• Preferred status as a Professional Engineer (e.g., Pr. Eng or CEng). (Pr. Tech also Acceptable)
