    Diesel Mechanic (Agriculture)

    • A well-established fresh produce farming operation is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair the fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair work to ensure optimal operational efficiency and minimal downtime.

    Minimum requirements for the role:

    • Must have a relevant Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate
    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working on agricultural machinery and vehicles
    • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills are essential
    • Must have experience working with agricultural machinery, trucks, or earth-moving equipment
    • Knowledge of diagnostic tools and software for modern diesel engines is essential
    • Welding and fabrication skills are advantageous
    • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to work in various conditions, including outdoor environments and confined spaces
    • Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, self-motivated, and ability to work under pressure

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
    • Conducting routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing fleet vehicles and machinery.
    • Performing engine overhauls, brake repairs, gearbox servicing, and other mechanical work.
    • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company maintenance standards.
    • Maintaining accurate service records and documenting all repairs and maintenance tasks.
    • Ordering and managing spare parts inventory efficiently.
    • Working closely with the fleet management team to schedule and prioritize repairs.
    • Providing breakdown assistance and field repairs when necessary.
    • Training and guiding junior mechanics and apprentices when required.
    • Adhering to workplace safety policies and procedures at all times.
