    Digital Commerce Merchandising Manager

    Purpose of the Job    

    • The purpose of the Digital Commerce Merchandising Managerrole is to execute all merchandising functions related to the Petshop Science online offering, including sales, selection of the online product range and the merchandising and promotion of ranges.The role ensures optimal displays and arrangement of products in the online store that are consistent with brand and business goals, while performing product data analysis and competitor and market research to recommend merchandising solutions that delivers an enhanced customer digital journey experience.

    Job Objectives    

    • Assume overall accountability for the effective digital merchandising of the product range including:
    • Overall layout and look and feel of the site.
    • Effective search and discoverability.
    • Implementation of site merchandising (daily, weekly, monthly).
    • Product page optimisation.
    • Promotions strategy in line with the objectives of Petshop Science.
    • Manage creative assets in an easily accessed archive.
    • Set up and manage merchandising assets.
    • Support the execution of the marketing strategies on the site.
    • Collaborate with buying teams to select product ranges that best promotes offers and maximises sales. 
    • Partner with cross functional teams to ensure all products have images, copy, and pricing in accordance with planned launch dates.
    • Ensure digital channels are rich with content and enable customers to easily discover products in the catalogue.
    • Collaborate with the product coordination teams to ensure accuracy and integrity of the product catalogue are always maintained.
    • Work closely with the buying and marketing teams to deliver on promotions which maximises sales.
    • Deliver and report on online sales against agreed KPIs.
    • Analyse weekly / daily performance, provide insights and drive day-to-day optimisation.

    Qualifications    

    • Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Business, or a related field – (essential). 

    Experience    

    • +3 years’ experience in a similar role, working with product merchandising tools and teams along with a strong understanding of and experience in content management systems and the eCommerce environment – (essential).
    • Experience working on online merchandising platforms - (essential).
    • Retail experience with a well-developed understanding of the online retail shopper journey – (essential).
    • Understanding of visual merchandising and the levers that drive eCommerce sales - (essential).

    Knowledge and Skills    

    • Analytical with good problem-solving skills - Able to integrate various sources of information to plan, prioritise, anticipate and mitigate problems while applying?sound judgement in balancing competing demands and priorities.
    • Communication skills – Communicates well verbally and in writing. Expresses self and articulates ideas in a logical, convincing, and compelling manner. Able to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Has a flair for sales, merchandising and delivering a compelling customer experience particularly in an online retail environment. 
    • Able to work under pressure, manage multiple demands and adapt as business needs evolve in a fast-paced environment. 
    • Organised with a focus on execution. An attitude of accountability with a drive for excellence – Sets stretch goals for self while working tenaciously toward meeting and exceeding expectations within quality standards. 
    • Anindependent, motivated self-starter,with the desire to continually learn and grow.
    • Team player and collaborative partner- Builds sound working relationships both internally and externally. Equally capable of working independently or in a team (collaborative) environment.
