Draughtsperson - Intern at Macsteel

Job Advert Summary    

• An intensive 12-month internship within our dynamic Sales team. This position will assist in project documentation, site planning, and the development of technical drawings under the supervision of the Sales Manager, Sales Representatives, and a senior Draughtsperson. This position requires strong attention to detail, a foundational understanding of engineering principles, and proficiency in CAD software. 

Minimum Requirements    

• Diploma/Degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related drafting/technical field.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
• Ability to communicate in English – speak, write, and read.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proactive, eager to learn, and deadline driven. 
• Age 20 – 28
• Availability and commitment to complete a full year (12 months) training.

Duties and Responsibilities    

• Create, update, and modify technical drawings and layouts.
• Assist in developing design concepts, including space planning, as well as producing detailed fabrication or construction drawings.
• Maintain drawing libraries, ensure proper version control, and archive project documentation and files.
• Work with operational and sales teams to ensure drawings are understood, accurate, and comply with standards.
