    Reports to:

    • General Manager: Vertical Design Centre

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Care for all vehicles and property at all times having due regard for all such property
    • Engage in pleasant and courteous interaction with members of the public whilst maintaining concentration on driving and road traffic conditions
    • Drive with the utmost safety and care to minimise the risk of road traffic accidents and hazards
    • When driving duties involve dialogue with customers and general public, ensure that they are shown the utmost courtesy, respect and consideration
    • Care for and ensure the economic use of company vehicles when driven
    • Avoid traffic fines and infringements by driving carefully and safely. Park in such a manner as to avoid both distress to others and parking fines and penalties. Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
    • Cleaning the exterior and interior of the vehicle and complete First and Last Parades on vehicle every day and report any defects or damage to vehicle
    • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
    • Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles immediately to management
    • Present bills and receipts, and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded
    • Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles
    • Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers; ensuring complete accuracy in parcels received and delivered, or in the process of being received or delivered
    • Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries
    • Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations
    • Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions
    • Perform emergency repairs such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, and fuses when required
    • Ensure timeous communication with management regarding any delays, route deviations and work related obstacles
    • The following speed limits must be strictly adhered to - 100km/h where speed limits are 120km/h, 70km/h in 80km/h, 60km/h in 70km/h and 50km/h in 60km/h zones. Always ensure that your driving speed is 10km/h less than the speed limit indicated
    • Any other duties as and when required by Management that are reasonably within the capabilities of the person and are aimed at achieving objectives and goals of the company

    • Having awareness of safety procedures for goods´ loading and unloading processes
    • Being able to meet deadlines
    • Having good communication skills
    • Must be physically fit since the job requires extensive travelling, and carrying plenty of boxes. Must be able to stoop and lift at least 30kg

    Qualifications:

    • Matric
    • 3-5 years' experience in driving within the courier industry
    • Code 10 drivers licence
