    Electrical Specialist

    Description

    • The specialist deals with the development of electrical Balance of Plant (BOP) and  design of the renewable plants (especially solar PV and Wind).  

     

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate within the project teams by high cooperation with Project Engineer, other Engineering Specialists and any other surrounding interface, ensuring the respect of times, costs and quality (this last one in terms of engineering contents)
    • Follow the guidelines and support the Electrical Competence Center central structure in the general technical activities (global Technical Specification updating, attendance to international working groups, technical feedback sharing)
    • Prepare Technical Specifications for design of electrical MV-LV systems of wind and solar PV plants.
    • Ensures the issue of the technical specifications of MV-LV systems (such as Conversion Units, Transformers, MV and LV switchboards, batteries, MV and LV cables plus accessories, etc.) for purchase orders and follows up the procurement process.
    • Ensures the review and approval of technical documents issued by external design contractors and/or consultants, assuring the full compliance with standards, codes, ENEL technical specifications and best engineering practices, etc.
    • Review technical specifications, layouts and designs relevant to IEC, IEEE, and other applicable industry standards.
    • Manage, coordinate and supervise third party engineers or external design services.
    • Communicate timely with third parties to ensure design requirements are understood and fulfilled through delivery.
    • Select optimal equipment for site and specific requirements, and coordinate with suppliers/manufacturers and contractors as necessary.
    • Attend design reviews meetings with Design Contractor, Supplier and Consultant.
    • Approve and supervise any necessary tests related to electrical equipment (FAT\SAT).
    • Provide engineering support and perform site inspection during the construction phase of projects.
    • Provide engineering support to startup, testing and system commissioning phases
    • Develop operational standards and procedures for Electrical Discipline.

     

    Qualifications

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in overall Electrical Power System engineering
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in low and medium voltage engineering design
    • Experience in construction activities - engineering support, specification and schedule monitoring-,testing and commissioning
    • ECSA candidate/ professional registration
    • Knowledge of large and small Grid Interconnections.
    • Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and other international applicable industry Standards.

     

    Personal Skills:

    • Ability to working within a matrix context
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
    • Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
    • Willingness to accept autonomy and responsibility with clear thinking and problem solving abilities
    • Excellent teamwork, coordination, detail orientation and communication skills (written & oral)
    • Strong level of skill with Microsoft suite
    • Strong understanding of power wiring and control wiring best practices
    • Knowledgeable on power systems engineering for Equipment / Components and Balance Of Plant design
    • Knowledgeable on using of software for engineering design (ETAP or DigSilent, Cymcap, etc.)
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with focus on safety, integrity and empowerment of those working for you.
    • Ability and willingness to travel
