Job specification: 

• Grade 11 or equivalent qualification
• Trade Test, preferably Section 13 or Section 26(D)
• A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience with underground electrical installation and fault-finding experience would be advantageous
• Proficiency in English and any other of the 11 official languages
• Ability to work flexible hours and perform standby duties
• Independent judgment, initiative, and outstanding technical and communication skills are required and essential
• Excellent knowledge of underground electrical installations and distribution
• In-depth knowledge of electrical voltages and lockout procedures 
• South African Driver’s license and own vehicle (Code 8-10) essential
• South African Citizenship
• Clear Criminal Record

 Responsibilities:  

• Functional support, quality control, and best practices within the Engineering section
• Specialized knowledge to analyse and solve complex problems.
• Perform effective routine maintenance in electrical, planning, and project organization.
• Troubleshooting and detailed fault analysis.
• Ability to make rough sketches, pre-planning, estimate cost, and report to supervisor.
• Preventive and scheduled maintenance on switch gears, transformers, and electrical cables.
• Manage and maintain in area of responsibility by prescribed standard procedures, specifications, and practices.
• Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1’s safety motto : “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely”
