Engineer / Senior Technician (Control Plant) at Trans Africa Projects

Purpose of the Job:

• Substation (Dx an Tx) Control Plant design philosophy.
• Possessing further field experience in Testing and Commissioning of Substation Plant; Control Plant design work, design of High Voltage Substations and system studies.

Key Performance Areas (KPA’s):

• Design a product for the client that details all the technical specification of the project and identifies errors.
• Serve as Control Plant technical professional with an understanding of High Voltage Network requirements, Protection Settings, Substation Automation and SCADA communication designs and protocols.
• Ability to interact with other electrical engineering disciplines in as subject expert and provision of guidance to project team.
• Preparation of Conceptual, Preliminary and Detail Design documentation and present at the design committees within the specified timelines to ensure on-time delivery of the final design.
• Proposes optimised designs that will meet clients’ and the network requirements with minimum costs whilst ensuring sound technical operationality.
• Validate all design aspects and processes of all designs.
• Manages project design within budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Consult clients on discipline-related issues which include their own designs or other designs. Provide advisory services to clients on all Control Plant designrelated matters.
• Able to identify leads, and opportunities for work, to create Sourcing of Work.
• Provides support to the Business Development and Project management.
• Leverages experience by mentoring and supporting training.

Minimum Requirements:

• BSC Engineering or B Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Overhead Power Lines Design experience and high voltage substations.

Other competencies and requirements:

• 3-5 years’ experience high voltage substations and/or overhead line Civil.
