    Engineering Lead

    Leading the team that provide Technical Support in the Instrumentation Engineering field for all SCO plants. The team is responsible to ensure compliance to relevant engineering governance in the project delivery as well as operations fraternities.

    FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS

    • Lead the Instrumentation Engineering team who provides Technical Support to all SCO plants (Operations and Project Delivery).

    • Manage resource allocation and indicate timeously resourcing needs towards the execution projects.

    • Develop and maintain critical competency and guide talent development of team members.

    • Manage the relationship with internal and external service providers applicable to function/discipline.

    • Establish work standards and ensure it is met according to quality, quantity and due dates.

    • Develop, set up and manage the discipline specific systems, tools, policies and procedures for the execution of projects.

    • Ensure adherence and compliance to Sasol safety system and culture.

    • Management of job specific areas like FSC, DCS, CCC/Moore, PLC's and Bentley Nevada systems by ensuring correct competencies are available within the team.

    • Ensure knowledge on area specific equipment in area of responsibility for e.g. transmitters and control valves to be able to maximise availability and production outputs.

    • Enonship with all stake holders especially with control systems counter parts as well as plant production and maintenance personnel.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        
    • Liaise with external engineering companies to share in knowledge and benchmark.      

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Qualifications:

    • B Eng. or BSc (Eng.) Electronics

    Experience:

    • Minimum experience in the relevant discipline 10 years.

    • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, Sasol policies and standards.

    • Management of discipline specific project risks.

    • Quality control of delivered services.

    • Adherence to Sasol safety system and culture.

    • Oversee the safety of external service providers.

    • Ensure teams safety objectives and required training is completed.

    • Review Sasol policies for applicability and implementation.

    • Development of deviation concessions and concession registers to Sasol specifications for small project execution.

    Technology & Quality delivery:

    • Ensure quality work delivery.

    • Effective and good quality service provided by external service providers.

    • Technical guidance to team members on projects.

    • Responsible to drive initiatives which improves delivery and competitiveness.

    • Responsible for new solutions in area of expertise.

    • Responsible for discipline specific deliverables in project execution.

    • Responsible for technical input regarding proposed modifications & projects.

    • Functionally oversee and optimise the cost structure/cost per unit of services delivered.

    • Ensure quality of scopes of works.

    • Responsible for quality of design, EOJ documentation etc.
