EPWP Intern – Stage Management (X2) at Artscape Theatre Centre

Purpose:

• The Artscape Technical Training Academy hosts Workplace Integrated Learning Technical Internships in all technical aspects of theatre. Interns will work alongside industry professionals with the purpose of receiving basic training and practical experience towards a career in the technical Theatre.

Main Duties:
Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Participate in theatrical training with practical exposure to all aspects of technical theatre practices, including Lighting, Sound, Stage Management, theatre automation
• Attend all scheduled training days.
• Contribute to various productions as part of practical learning assignments.
• Report to assigned industry professionals for mentorship and guidance.
• Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Submit a monthly activity report, signed off by the line manager, to HR.

Educational & Experience Requirements

• Graduate 3-year qualification or/ Grade 12.
• Computer proficiency (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Internet)
• Applicants must be between the ages of 18 - 35 years old.

Further Requirements

• The candidate must be prepared to work overtime as and when required.
• Must be proactive and have problem-solving ability.
• Commitment to attending all training sessions and production assignments.
• Comply with safety protocols and PPE requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and under supervision.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Must have a keen interest in theatre and its technical operations is Essential for the completion of this programme;
• The candidate must be articulate in 2 or 3 of the Western Cape’s predominant languages (i.e. English, Afrikaans, IsiXhosa); Previous experience in any discipline of the Performing Arts will be advantageous; Have a positive attitude, and have a willing desire to learn
