    ESG Assurance Coordinator - Sandton

    You will have the following:

    • Degree in either finance, sustainability, accounting or science.
    • Master’s Degree in finance, accounting, business, management or other technical / science-based education with other supporting certifications or undergraduate degrees in sustainability
    • Minimum of 10 years’ work experience in the sustainability field, preferably working in both consulting and a corporate environment in a variety of sustainability-related matters impacting the mining sector.
    • At least 3 years of experience conducting assurance of sustainability/ESG/financial reports in audit firms or similar organization and/or supporting companies to improve ESG reporting internal control environments.

    You will have advanced skills and knowledge in:

    • Experience in non-financial assurance of sustainability KPIs along with experience in relevant assistance standards (such as ISAE3000 and ISAE3410).
    • Solid understanding of sustainability ESG standards and frameworks, as well as global data reporting and disclosure requirements and trends. Knowledge of ESG metrics and protocols, in particular environmental/carbon, H&S, human rights and social aspects KPIs.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to support the accurate provision of ESG information to external stakeholders.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with senior stakeholders and leaders, build rapport across functional boundaries as well as people of diverse backgrounds.
    • Good understanding of the mining industry 

    Technical Skills should include:

    • Working experience in managing ESG data collection and reporting processes.
    • Excellent project management skills and an ability to manage multiple complex projects/assignments and diverse stakeholders.
    • Verbal communication ability in French would be advantageous.
    • Personal Competencies should include:
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Self-starter with an appetite to embrace new challenges as they arise.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse complex sustainability topics and the impact on financial reporting relative to our business.

    Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to: 

    • Ensure the implementation and oversight of ESG reporting systems, assurance and disclosures across functions and regions.
    • Ensure the development of ESG assurance and disclosure targets, standards, systems, reporting, performance tracking, assurance and change management to facilitate the delivery of the strategies
    • Mitigate ESG disclosure risk.
    • Demonstrate Ivanhoe’s leading commitment to ESG and build long term credibility through influencing planning, reliable monitoring, assurance, and credible reporting of ESG, environmental, safety and social performance
    • Contribute to the development and oversee implementation the Group ESG assurance and disclosure approach in response to Ivanhoe’s mining operations, stakeholder, emerging disclosure, and reporting expectations
    • Ensure alignment with existing and new ESG disclosure requirements of external compliance requirements, disclosure and reporting frameworks and trends (such as ICMM, WGC, SEC, ISSB etc.)
    • Work as part of the Group wide Sustainability Team on the continuous development and delivery of core ESG metrics and verified data points to support Group-wide priority programmes, such as the adoption of the CopperMark, ICMM, TCFD etc.
    • Drive credible, transparent, timeous, multi-stakeholder focused, compliant and assured ESG disclosures with a collaborate and multifunctional approach between relevant corporate functions and the regions (engage and have close alignment with other key stakeholders across the business including the Group Finance, Business Unit Finance Teams, HR, Procurement, IT, Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations and Internal Audit)
    • Support the Group sustainability non-financial data reliability, management, reporting, assurance, and disclosures to ensure full validation of disclosed ESG data
    • Support business decision making processes and the integration of ESG disclosure priorities into Group policies, business strategy, planning, systems and processes
    • Participate in the strategic initiatives that will be fundamental to supporting Ivanhoe’s evolving Sustainability strategy.
    • Establish (define and document) appropriate processes and key controls within sustainability reporting to capture and analyse relevant data to ensure the Group can meet its reporting obligations.
    • Continuously strengthen sustainability/ESG reporting integrity and credibility within the ESG reporting internal control environment to ensure consistent, accurate and timely ESG information as well as auditable and efficient reporting processes.
    • Undertake internal assurance and readiness of material ESG metrics/data as a preempting and foundation for prioritising metrics for external assurance.
    • Identify, advise on and implement new sustainability reporting and disclosure practices in line with the trends, based on a deep understanding of requirements from regulators, investors/lenders and sustainability actors in order to fully comply with obligations and to assist in improving Ivanhoe’s ESG/sustainability related performance.
    • Liaise with the auditors and other key stakeholders to ensure unqualified and timely assurance of Ivanhoe’s disclosures.
    • Assist in creating internal alignment and awareness within the functions and governance structures regarding the preparation of the annual reports and other submissions, reporting process, reporting requirements and action plans to improve sustainability reporting and disclosure.
    • Assist in the consolidating and assurance of data required as part of the preparation of external annual sustainability report and responses to information requests from external stakeholders such as rating agencies, investors and rankings, among others. This will include assisting the team in the preparation of key non-financial disclosures including, but not limited to, CPD, TCFD, UNGC etc.
    • Conduct benchmarking assessments to identify ESG/sustainability trends as well as the Company’s strengths and opportunities for improvement.
    • Determine appropriate ESG/sustainability strategic targets for Group and the sites.
