    Financial Manager/Head of Finance

    The ideal candidate is a CA(SA) and is highly driven. You’ll be responsible for the analysis and management of all actuarial and financial activities related to the finance function of the company which includes Embedded Value reporting, SAM and IFRS17.

    This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced and energetic Financial Manager to grow with the company, into an executive leadership role.

    Duties

    • Preparation of budgets, forecasts and co-ordinate annual audits.
    • Compile Annual Financial statements by complying with IFRS and relevant regulatory frameworks.
    • Preparation and review of consolidated monthly reports and commentary for financial results.
    • Oversee preparation of monthly management accounts.
    • Analyse and report on balance sheet recons and costs.
    • Oversee debtors, creditors and cashbook management.
    • Income tax and VAT compliance and submissions, month end reviews and variance reports.
    • Assets, Procurement, Commercial contracts and Insurance management.
    • Provide operational support related to finance and insurance activities and initiatives to contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the company.
    • Management and Statutory Regulatory Reporting: SAM, FSCA and Prudential Authority.
    • Provide actionable, relevant and time sensitive insight and information to the business to enable key business and strategic decisions.
    • Review the performance of the business using financial metrics.
    • Preparation of key business drivers for group management reporting.
    • Quarterly and annual LT returns.
    • Quarterly K68 and asset allocation reports for SARB.
    • Monitoring and forecasting of capital adequacy requirements.
    • Quarterly and annual QRT reporting.
    • Bi-annual ASISA reporting.
    • Collaboration with actuarial function to ensure all FSCA and other statutory requirements are complied with.
    • Preparing and submitting bi-annual and annual tax calculations.

    Qualifications

    • CA (SA) is essential.
    • 5-year post article experience in a commercial environment in the insurance/financial services industry (in a non-audit environment).
    • Insurance industry experience preferable.
    • Managerial experience: At least 2-year’s financial management experience at a senior and/or executive level.

    Requirements and Responsibilities

    • Strong finance-based analytical skill.
    • Ability to work and communicate with Executive management regularly.
    • Able to identify system inefficiencies and propose solutions.

    • Technical financial acumen.
    • A self-starter who shows initiative and can work independently to solve problems.
    • Experience in a commercial environment, with responsibility/exposure to key aspects of complex accounting & actuarial processes including developing & implementing effective work processes, procedures and controls.
    • Experience in regulatory reporting.
    • Technical experience with IFRS 17.
    • Experience in the compilation and submission of tax returns.
    • Knowledge of accounting systems (e.g. Pastel Evolution).
    • Understanding of SAM regulations.
    • Make commercial recommendations in line with the company’s strategy to enable growth of shareholder value, as per the organisation’s business strategy supporting financial architecture.
    • Assume responsibility for the overall integrity and operation of both the financial and actuarial reporting for the company.
    • Contribute strategically to the achievement of the company’s vision and goals by guiding business decision-making.
    • All financial reporting responsibilities at a group level.

    Salary – R600 000p.a. – R900 000p.a.
