Fixed Network COM Technician - Kathu at Anglo American

Purpose

The purpose is to provide technical assistance to maintenance personnel proactively on complex mechanical systems, equipment, and processes to continuously enhance Mining equipment performance and availability

Your duties will include:

• Proactively assist or respond promptly to requests from maintenance personnel.
• Identify components that cause excessive downtime and implement permanent solutions.
• Test equipment/machinery thoroughly for functionality and safety before returning to production.
• Conduct failure analysis investigations to determine the root cause of problems and find solutions.
• Train maintenance personnel on the maintenance of new systems when installed.
• Install and commission new hydraulics systems or make modifications as necessary
• Participate in Fixed Network Communication projects and conduct the planning, execution, and completion of initiatives related to the installation, maintenance, and optimisation of LV communication networks.
• Establish and nurture positive relationships with stakeholders involved in Technical Standards, ensuring their ongoing health and maintenance.
• Utilize knowledge and expertise to provide valuable insights and recommendations to enhance business performance across projects and operations.
• Participate in developing the Department budget by providing valuable input and insights.
• Proactively identify opportunities for improved cost management and take appropriate action or escalate to your supervisor for further guidance.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate
• National Certificate (Electrical Engineering) NQF5
• National Diploma (Electrical Engineering) is preferred
• SA Drivers Licence

Experience

• Knowledge of operational processes within the scope of the role.
• Relevant Operational exposure (communication hardware experience).
• Documentation, sign-off and approval processes.
• Risk management techniques and critical controls.
• Leadership tools for implementing a culture of purpose-led high[1]performance and change.
• Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
