General Engineering Superintendent UG at Anglo American

Job Description
The role is responsible for the day to day implementation of plans to manage Anglo American Coal South Africa’s Engineering Assets, Resources and Infrastructure – availability of machinery and equipment and managing resources and people to achieve planned production targets, but not limited to:

• To maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies related to engineering are implemented and followed on the Operations and Projects
• Optimise planned maintenance schedules of conveyors and equipment and ensuring that conveyors and equipment are effectively maintained
• Research and implement best practice systems with respect to cost, maintenance, safety and people management
• Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
• Financial Budgeting & Management
• Participate in ad hoc projects providing input into drafting of scope for new projects
• Effectively Manage contractors and supplier’s relationships ensuring compliance to Anglo American Coal SA standards
   

Qualifications

• Technical N3 Certificate
• Relevant Trade Test certificate
• 5+ years’ experience as an Underground Mechanical Foreman, of which 3 years’ experience should be in an Outbye section
• Flame proofing and Gas testing certification and knowledge
• Understanding of engineering best practices and new technologies relating to engineering principles & processes
• Understanding of Environmental standards
• Proven technical and maintenance capability
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• AA Plc Safety Course: A3
• Valid South African Driver’s License
• In possession of a valid COF or ability to obtain one
