General Manager at African Echoes Recruitment

• A small, intimate luxury safari lodge in the Hoedspruit region is seeking an experienced and hands-on General Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the property.
• This is a hands-on management role suited to an experienced lodge professional who enjoys being actively involved in the guest experience, staff management, operational standards and the financial performance of the property.
• The successful candidate will take ownership of the lodge operation, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while maintaining strong financial controls, effective budgeting and cost efficiencies.

REQUIREMENT: 

• RSA ID and legal residence essential
• Proven experience in a General Manager, Lodge Manager or senior lodge management position
• Previous experience in a luxury lodge or 4/5 Star hospitality environment advantageous
• Proven experience in budgeting, financial management and cost control
• Strong understanding of lodge financials and departmental budgets
• Experience with financial reporting and monitoring expenditure
• Strong leadership and staff management skills
• Excellent guest relations and communication abilities
• Strong operational and administrative skills
• Experience with stock control, procurement and supplier management
• Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the property
• Hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail
• Computer literate
• Valid Driver's Licence advantageous 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Oversee the complete day-to-day operation of the lodge
• Ensure exceptional guest service and hospitality standards
• Lead, manage, train and develop the lodge team
• Prepare, manage and monitor departmental budgets and operational expenditure
• Monitor financial performance, costs and variances and implement corrective measures where required
• Assist with forecasting, financial reporting and overall budget control
• Drive cost efficiencies while maintaining luxury service standards
• Oversee operational administration, stock, purchasing and supplier relationships
• Manage guest relations and ensure personalised guest experiences
• Monitor property standards, maintenance and presentation
• Manage staff schedules and operational requirements
• Liaise with owners/management regarding operational and financial performance
• Ensure the lodge operates efficiently, professionally and profitably at all times 

PACKAGE: 

• R30,000 – R40,000 per month (DOE)
• Live-in accommodation provided
