Main purpose of the role

The role of a Stores Operator is to ensure availability of equipment by making sure inventory (SOH) is kept up to standard. Ensure FES standards in maintenance office is respected

Essential responsibilities and duties

• Review production schedule and, when equipment is not scheduled for production,  perform scheduled maintenance 
• Participate in Production System Efficiency and Quality System Efficiency workshops to support continuous improvement: propose and implement continuous productivity, process and quality improvement actions for all facilities 
• Give advice on technical specifications of new equipment and alterations on existing equipment and facilities, making sure manufacturing, maintainability and Health, Safety & Environmental requirements are met 
• Set up requisitions for supplies, equipment and facilities & follow up payment & GRN
• Participate in the management of the inventory of spare parts and consumables to eliminate downtime 
• Track the ratio of expenses against budget and monitor quality, cost and delivery objectives given to external companies when intervening : subcontracting, ordinary and major maintenance actions, energy, security systems. 
• Keep up to date documentation related to maintenance, stock take, issue of spares to the line, items received from supplier.
• Liaise with suppliers to get quotes for spares/equipment needed
• Get signatures from relevant HOD’s to approve requisitions, PO’s
• Ensure SV gets all PM’s on a weekly basis to distibute on time.
• Keep track of PO’s to minimize waiting periods for spares.
• Be responsible for monthly stocktake. 
• Ensure adherence to FES system

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 qualification
• A technical orientated qualification (Electrician or Millwright)
• 3 years experience as a technical store man within a company
• At least 3 years experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment preferably in the Automotive industry
• Excellent communication skills (English)
• Experience on computer systems
• Valid drivers license
• Excellent interpersonal skills
