Geometric Design Engineer at Roads Agency Limpopo SOC (RAL)

(PATERSON GRADE D2)
REQUIREMENTS

•  B Eng. or B Sc. or B Tech Eng. degree in Civil Engineering (Geometric Design) a must.
•  MEng Civil or MTech Civil with Geometric design experience will be advantageous.
•  Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist.
•  The incumbent must have at least 3 to 5 years working experience in geometric design of roads.
•  Driver’s licence.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND MAIN TASKS (BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

•  Review Assessment & Design Reports and propose appropriate solutions/strategies.
•  Conduct geometric design analysis on road projects in AutoCAD.
•  Ensure completion of projects on time, within budget and conformance with quality standards.
•  Ensure compliance with all technical and quality requirements of the contract.
•  Consider innovation / alternatives in road designs.
•  Mitigate and report on incidents as and when required.
•  Review all geometrics designs.
•  Review or investigate all instances of non-conforming work.
•  Share knowledge and experience with colleagues and subordinates.
•  Pursue research and best practice.
•  Develop and amend RAL’s specifications and documentation.
•  Participate in developing industry skills and capacity.
•  Maintain good working relationships with colleagues in other regions and/or areas of expertise.
•  Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders, consultants and contractors.
•  Ensure internal collaboration and co-operation.
•  Promote aims and objectives of RAL.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

•  Extensive knowledge of relevant industry standards, specifications, and relevant legislation.
•  Extensive knowledge of construction materials properties and specifications
•  The ability to understand road pavement behaviour and appropriate / cost efficient intervention strategies, solve problems / failures and assess new products / techniques, including the use of appropriate industry software.
•  The ability to ensure appropriate quality assurance on projects.
•  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
•  Software experience to include AutoCad Civil 3D.
