Graduate Intern - AIIM Division at Old Mutual

Job Purpose

AIIM is seeking a talented individual, who is passionate about Africa and its development, to join the business on an internship and provide support to the Investment team.

The successful candidate will get the opportunity to develop their experience in infrastructure private equity while working alongside highly experienced colleagues. The role will combine typical tasks of research and analysis giving a good exposure to investment structuring, infrastructure, private equity and project finance transactions within the African marketplace.

Type: 9 Month Internship.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of deal investment pipeline, gathering market data on infrastructure opportunities in African countries
• Financial analysis of prospective investment opportunities
• Conducting industry research in the context of origination and execution of transactions
• Assisting in the preparation of investment papers and other fund and transaction marketing materials
• Supporting the team on ad hoc assignments

Experience and Core competencies:

• An Honours Financial or Engineering degree or equivalent
• Strong analytical skills and financial modelling experience
• Financial acumen – the capacity to demonstrate knowledge of and insight into financial principles and processes and identify inconsistencies in data
• Ability to apply sound business judgment and an analytical, pragmatic and creative approach to problem solving
• Desktop Research capability
• Technically proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Project/process management
• Ability to plan and prioritise effectively
• Commercial orientation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Strong focus of quality of results
• Genuine interest in the energy and infrastructure sectors
