    Groundwater Modeller

    Job description: Groundwater Modeller

    • Golder Associates is seeking a Groundwater Modeller to join the Mine Water Business Unit in Midrand, South Africa. This is junior role, where the selected person will conduct hydrogeology fieldwork, data analysis, numerical groundwater modelling and reporting under the supervision of a senior hydrogeologist.

    Responsibilities of the role will include:

    • Undertake hydrogeological numerical modelling tasks
    • Plan and manage groundwater projects and tasks
    • Undertake relevant field work assessments (examples: Aquifer testing supervision, drilling supervision and hydrocensus)
    • Hydrogeological baseline assessments
    • Interpretation and conceptualisation of hydrogeological data
    • Contaminated groundwater assessments
    • Liaise with clients (internal and external)
    • Report writing
    • Proposal writing

     
     
    The successful candidate will have a background in:

    • BSc Hons in Hydrogeology/Geology
    • 3-5 years’ experience in practical hydrogeology.
    • Previous groundwater modelling experience is essential.
    • Groundwater Modelling expertise in Feflow, Modflow and Goldsim will be beneficial. Expertise in GIS packages such as QGIS or ArcGIS. Knowledge of Python will be beneficial. 
    • MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced), MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Feflow, Modflow, GIS package.
    • Own Vehicle
    • Valid Driver’s Licence
