Group Financial Controller at Synexa Life Sciences

Job Purpose:

• To oversee the general finance functions within an international accounts department.
• Lead a finance team of finance to ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial information and submission of associated accounts and returns.
• Monthly group consolidation and preparation of management accounts
• Management of annual Group and local entity audits.

Main areas of responsibility:

Accounts payable

• Manage the purchase ledger process and workload of the purchase ledger team.
• Overall responsibility for finance administrators
• Manage Month end close process for the business unit.

Accounts receivable and credit control

• Manage the accounts receivable team to ensure invoices are produced accurately and within required deadlines.
• Set up new client accounts and meet with clients to ensure invoice processes meet requirements.
• Manage Month end close process for the business unit.
• Oversee Invoice Discounting liaising with 3rd party finance provider.
• Supervise and provide support to the Credit Controller.
• Overall responsibility for cash collection targets being met.
• Arrange and attend meetings with customers to discuss overdue debt.

Fixed Assets

• Manage the recording of capital items into the fixed asset register.
• Maintain fixed asset register in collaboration with facilities management and laboratory teams.

Reporting

• Weekly 13 week rolling cash forecast submitted to group finance.
• Weekly Debtor report with commentary to group finance.
• Weekly time cost billability reporting.
• Complete set of monthly management accounts.
• Monthly P&L, BS and CF analysis with comments on variances to budget and forecast.
• Other ad-hoc reports as and when required.

Team Leading / Development

• Responsible for supervising and developing team.
• Conduct annual appraisals of team.
• Work with HR to manage team effectively and within company policies.

Other

• Ad-hoc projects including potential integration activities resulting from M&A.
• On-going process improvements.
• Act as point of contact for finance software (new and existing) including potential ERP implementation.
• Any other duties commensurate with post.

Qualification/Experience required:

• Chartered Accountant
• Life sciences experience
• 3+yrs experience post qualified as financial controller
• International experience
• Group consolidation
• Transfer pricing experience

Skills and Competencies required:

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Spread sheet design and data manipulation
• Experience with ERP systems managing customer contracts
• Highly self-motivated and driven
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure to tight time scales
• Good attention to detail
• Highly numerate
• Commercially aware.
