    Group Leader Logistics (Pinetown)

    Description

    • Ensure meeting of production targets (Volume).
    • Conduct daily start up meeting (green areas), and Operations meetings (pre-action room meeting).
    • Leadership & Development of Operators.
    • Manage time and attendance of staff members – plan absentee cover and manpower control.
    • Recognition of quality defects then supervise the implementation of countermeasures in logistics.
    • Ensure meeting Logistics quality targets.
    • Ensure that all parts are received and binned and allocated accordingly.
    • Ensure that stock is balanced, using MRP system.
    • Issuing of work in progress parts and complete the shortage report
    • Do stock adjustments.
    • Ensure all parts are delivered to the line timely according to a schedule and picking list.
    • Ensure that all shortages are logged and followed up in terms of availability.
    • Manage continuous improvement activities in the department e.g Kaizen Development and implementation of quality improvement plans.
    • Ensure safe work practices are followed & Health and Safety improvement measures are implemented.
    • Implement and co-ordinate the 5S concept and ensure that zone specific targets are met.
    • Implementation of lean manufacturing within the Department.
    • Actively involved in the monthly production / efficiency target.
    • Active involvement in Operations room meeting.
    • Pro- actively investigate all production deviations and report counter measures.
    • Work according to the set ISO procedures and the protocol book instructions.
    • Ensure that parts shortages are logged in the system on time and actively follow up on them.
    • Adhere to the housekeeping standards in the production plant.
    • Ensure that new stillages identified are actioned by Logistics, and Magic, and updated accordingly.
    • Liaise with the Operations Manager where discrepancies are concerned with the stock counting.
    • Ensure that all parts are identified and are traceable whilst in Logistics.
    • Ensure that all operators follow the Protocol Book instructions.
    • Comply to QF- Process and production instructions for Logistics.
    • Ensure that all work is performed according to the work instructions.
    • Pro-activeness in investigating all deviations to quality targets by defining proper countermeasures.
    • Focus on the reduction of waste.
    • Reduce the use of consumable items.
    • Encourage and support all Kaizen activities.
    • Ensure all equipment is maintained in working order & the necessary maintenance is performed.
    • Ensure that reworks and scrap are minimised.
    • Ensure that your staff members have a clear understanding of process information & work instructions.
    • Ensure that the production change requests from the customer are well understood.
    • Have a good understanding of new model & process requirements for production.
    • Ensure that checks for correct quality & quantity of parts is done by sequencing.
    • Handling of disciplinary issues including poor performance, issues of misconduct, attendance etc.
    • Focus on the development of Operators to maximise their performance through ILU.
    • Motivate members & appraise performance of Operators.
    • Facilitate daily Green Area meetings and obtain commitment from all staff members.
    • Ensure that Green Area visual board is constantly updated.
    • Enforce compliance with Health, Safety and PPE rules.
    • Report on machine breakdowns timeously through the helpboard.
    • Maintain good 5S & housekeeping practices.
    • Ensure that all machines have safety guards, signs or instructions on them.
    • Ensure that the correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times.
    • Ensure that all unsafe working conditions are addressed immediately.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Grade: 12 Matric Certificate.
    • Relevant Production Qualification.

    Skills:

    • Good communication (oral and written) & interpersonal relations skills.
    • Assertive and possess decision making skills.
    • Computer Literate.
    • Flexible, active and forward thinking.
    • Problem Solving Skills.

    Experience:

    • Technical experience in a manufacturing / assembly environment - 3 years
    • Experience of Health and Safety requirements in a manufacturing environment
