Head: Blood Grouping at South African National Blood Service (SANBS)

Introduction

• The incumbent will be responsible to manage the Blood Grouping section of the Donation Testing Department. Responsibilities include managing 1st Line and Confirmatory Blood Grouping (including ABO, Rh, Irregular antibody screening, allo-agglutinin titre and Syphilis testing) and transmission of results within strict turnaround times, whilst ensuring all quality standards and protocols are strictly adhered to.
• Provide technical expertise in the field of Blood Grouping. Ensure all operational goals are met and service delivery is optimised. They must be multi-skilled in the Donation Testing Department to review and release results.

Minimum requirements

Education:

• HPCSA Registered Medical Technologist (Blood Transfusion).

Experience and knowledge requirements:

• 4 years Blood Transfusion experience
