Head Of Clinical Unit- Obstetrics And Gyanecology (Pholosong Regional Hospital) at SADOCS

Requirements :

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery plus Appropriate qualification (Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or related sub-specialty). Registration certificate with HPCSA, plus 3 years’ experience after registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in General Surgery. HPCSA current registration (2026/2027) (annual registration card).
• Knowledge, Competencies: Must have a strong record of clinical governance; clinical expertise; surgical skill; training and teaching at both under- and post-graduate levels.
• Publication record will be an added advantage. Must have good interpersonal, leadership, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. Possess sound knowledge of Human Resources Management, budgeting and information management. Knowledge of relevant Health and Public Service legislation, regulations and policies including medical ethics. Have the ability to evaluate new technologies and decide on the cost-effective implementation thereof.

Duties :

• Effective overall management of the surgical unit. Assess and ensure good quality clinical service delivery by: development and implementation of guidelines; providing training and support to students, medical interns, community service doctors, nursing staff, medical officers and specialists in the unit. Management and control of equipment.
• Optimize use of Human and other resources. Participate in relevant hospital and management committees. Encourage and support relevant research and publications. Contribute to electronic databases for research purposes. Strategize and implement outreach programmes. Provide after hour specialist services.
